Fuzhou Port ranks 19th globally
Recently, the Shanghai International Shipping Research Center released the 2022 global port throughput ranking, and Fuzhou Port entered the top 20 globally for the first time, ranking 19th globally.
The ranking list shows that the cargo throughput of Fuzhou Port reached 302 million tons last year, ranking 19th, an increase of 3 places compared to 2021, and entering the top 20 globally for the first time. As indicated in the report released by the Shanghai International Shipping Institute, coastal ports in East China saw a sharp rise in the throughput of building materials in 2022 on the back of the boosting infrastructure policy, and Fuzhou Port improved in ranking.
Fuzhou Port is located in the southeast of Chinese Mainland, the west of the Taiwan Strait, and the entrance of the Minjiang River. The confluence of rivers and seas has led to Fuzhou Port having both an inland port area and a coastal port area. Since the formation of Dongye Port in the Han Dynasty, this area has been an important foreign port for China and played an important role in Zheng He's voyages to the West and his exchanges and trade with Ryukyu. Fuzhou Port is one of the important ports open to the outside world in China. (Wang Guanghui)
