Watercolor art, which enjoys a history of almost one century in Qingdao, has become a distinctive cultural symbol of the city. The 2023 International Watercolor Art Season held in Qingdao will last across the summer months from July to October. On July 9, the Exhibition of Famous Artists for the 2023 International Watercolor Art, the art season’s first event gathering 150 pieces of works by artists from a number of countries, kicked off in the Qingdao Art Museum’s hall.
With the theme “Arts in Motion Across China”, the 2023 International Watercolor Art Season (Qingdao Leg) underlines the invited masters at home and abroad and employs the form of online solicitations and field activities, aimed at promoting cross-boundary cooperation, displaying creations, exchanging mutual opinions on culture and disseminating arts. The event sends invitations to domestic and overseas artists to collect works on the latest natural scenery, status quo of humanity and culture and creative elements. Furthermore, influential and well-reputed watercolor artists from the US, Russia, Australia, Brazil, Moldova, Canada, Italy, South Korea and Malaysia will be specially invited to Qingdao to paint from life or nature to show a diverse and colorful China.
A continuous stream of exhibition, presentation and exchange activities will be held in the 2023 International Watercolor Art Season (Qingdao Leg), including the “Arts in Motion for Olympic Sailing” international watercolor saloon, the “Arts in Motion for Mountains and Seas” hill parks-themed activity and the “Arts in Motion for Jieli” painting tour of domestic and overseas artists. In addition to sponsoring watercolor seminars, famous artists at home and abroad will join local outstanding painters to sketch from life or nature in the urban area nearby Zhongshan Road, Taiping Corner in the Eight Great Passes, the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Base, fishery villages adjacent to Laoshan Mountain, the Beizhai Neighborhood and the Taiping Mountain Park to experience Qingdao’s charming and varied mountain and sea views as well as fashionable and diversified cityscape.
