In 2022, art exhibitions in Qingdao were held via both online and offline channels, which enabled the public to admire splendid arts anywhere.
The Qingdao International Glass Medium Art Exhibition, independently planned and held by the Qingdao Art Museum, was China’s first such event approved by the Organizing Committee of International Year of Glass. Nearly 200 sets of contemporary glass works created by 120 artists from 14 countries were displayed. Furthermore, the Qingdao Art Museum held four events, respectively themed with “Sound of Spring, Children’s Poem Recitation”, “Music in Qingdao, Summer Music Season”, “Paint the Prime Period of Autumn, Encounter Closely Qingdao Art Museum” and “Winter Pleasure, Key of e in Qingdao Art Museum”, in a bid to integrate art exhibitions with music and recitation.
None of the exhibitions held in the 330m-high Qingdao Haitian View & Art, such as “Material Thinking-1st International Contemporary Material Art Biennale” and “Beauty in the Crafts-Exhibition of China Arts & Crafts From Collection”, haven't presented pioneering explorations of artists at home and abroad. The “Rising City-Large Visual Literature Exhibition” presented Qingdao’s course of urban development from 1891 to 2021 and was of enormous value in literature and memory.
The “Qingdao 2022-China Contemporary Dynamic Sculpture (Installation) Invitational Exhibition”, hosted by the Qingdao Sculpture Museum, showcased the most sophisticated works and became the most cutting-edge and academic contemporary art exhibition. About ten exhibitions hosted by the Qingdao Publishing Art Museum, including the “Offline Exhibition of First Qingdao Picture Book Creation Contest” and the “Linkage-China-Europe International Youth Artists Exchange Invitation”, have offered visitors diversified platforms to appreciate artworks.
A few watercolor exhibitions, including the Watercolor Makes the City More Wonderful-First Qingdao China Contemporary Watercolor Invitational Exhibition, the Eighth “Watercolor Laoshan Mountain” Qingdao Contemporary Watercolor Art Exhibition and the 2022 China (Qingdao) International Watercolor Art Season Annual Exhibition, were collectively held at the end of 2022. Over 570 works of watercolor artists from 30 Chinese municipalities and provinces attended the first exhibition. To extend the exhibition, 25 famous watercolor artists from Qingdao co-painted a 20m-long scroll, which was created with exquisite art skills and vividly depicted a unique picture of Qingdao integrating mountains, seas and the city.
