Various celebrations are being staged across China in anticipation of the upcoming the New Year's Day and the Chinese New Year holiday, or the Spring Festival, creating a festive atmosphere.
In Zhoushan City of east China's Zhejiang Province, a 12-meter-tall phoenix-themed lantern installation has been set up, alongside a lantern featuring the God of Wealth in a square of Dinghai ancient city, attracting many residents and tourists eager to take photos.
Seven different areas within this ancient city are decorated with themed lanterns, some of which feature special technologies like mechanical, optical and voice control, offering an immersive experience for locals.
In northeast China's Liaoning Province, Spring Festival lantern showed are drawing locals and tourists alike.
"I saw animal designs from the Classic of Mountains and Seas, like the phoenix. Some lanterns feature elements of the Liaoning Basketball Team. Additionally, the ethnic cultural performances are really interesting," said a tourist.
In Nanchong City of southwest China's Sichuan Province, performances blending intangible cultural heritage, including iron fireworks and fire pots, are on display.
"It's a spectacular and lively performance. We're happy to join in the New Year's Eve celebrations," said one local.
In Zhengding County of north China's Hebei Province, local flower markets are welcoming customers looking to spruce up their homes for the festivals.
In Danzhai County of southwest China's Guizhou Province, locals are buying new clothes in preparation for the holidays.
"What I'm wearing is an embroidery. It's beautiful and elegant. I hope we can have a prosperous and happy New Year," said a local resident.
The Spring Festival is China's grandest traditional festival when people across the country return to their hometowns for Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations and family reunion. This year's Spring Festival falls on Jan 29.
