The birthday parade of Hua Guang reappeared!

Thanks to highly skilled martial arts masters, the artistic charm of Cantonese opera spreads forever.

Master Hua Guang, the founder of Cantonese opera in Guangdong province, was born on the 28th of the ninth Chinese lunar month. According to traditional customs, Cantonese opera troupes carry the statue of Hua Guang on a parade, which has a history of 300 years. Every November, the disciples of Luanyu Hall hold a grand parade to celebrate the birthday of Master Huang Guang. However, due to some reasons, the parade was suspended in 2022 and resumed on March 20, 2023.

On that day, the lively atmosphere of Luanyu Hall returned. Many masters and their disciples gathered and embraced each other. They carried the statue of Master Hua Guang on the parade. And the Cantonese opera, Dragon and Tiger Martial Arts staged a comeback on Yongqing Fang again.

龙虎武师技艺强，粤剧艺韵永流传。广东粤剧祖师华光师傅诞辰为农历九月廿八，按照传统习俗，粤剧戏行会抬着华光师傅像巡游，至今已有三百年历史。而每年阳历11月，銮舆堂的子弟都会举办华光诞巡游，但2022年因新冠疫情停办，巡游活动于2023年3月20日复办。当日，銮舆堂的热闹气氛再次回归，师叔相聚，弟子相拥，风风光光抬着华光师傅像巡游，粤剧龙虎武打行当技艺在永庆坊永续流传。
