Deep Blue Granary: Guangdong's Offshore Fish Farms

City Life | Off the coast of Zhanjiang in western Guangdong Province, the morning mist still hangs over the sea, yet fishing ports across the city are already bustling with activity. On the docks, fishermen load baskets of glistening golden pomfret onto refrigerated trucks bound for markets across China. The sea breeze carries the fresh, salty scent of the coast. Farther offshore, aquaculture platforms such as Zhanjiang Bay No. 1 and Haiwei No. 2 rise and fall with the waves, forming a striking picture of fish farming at sea.

南海之滨，晨雾还未散尽，湛江各处的渔港已热闹起来。码头上，渔民们将一筐筐银鳞闪烁的金鲳鱼搬上冷链车，发往全国各地。海风裹着咸鲜的气息扑面而来，远处，“湛江湾1号”“海威2号”等深海网箱平台随波起伏，构成了一座座海上牧场，在蔚蓝中铺展。
