“What tremendous changes!” On July 2, the statement was repeatedly voiced with both an astonishing feeling and a sense of happiness in Jiaheyuan, Cangxia New City, Fuzhou, where “The Renovated Fuzhou—Photography Exhibition in Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of Renovation of Shanty Towns in Fuzhou”, an event designed to show tangible results that Fuzhou has scored over the past 25 years, took place. Shortly after the exhibition started, it became well sought-after in the residential community. Visitors compared new and old photos to feel about tremendous changes and the new urban landscape.

Reportedly, a total of 171 photos, comprising 42 contrast photos (84 photos) of the city’s landmarks that can embody the features of the times, and 87 photos on the urban living environment, transportation construction, ecological progress, and inheritance and preservation of history and culture, have been on display to show a flurry of results that Fuzhou has achieved in urban construction.

Residents in Cangxia New City were touched and impressed the most by the “Cangxia Example” exhibition area. From time to time, they stood in front of the photos and watched them attentively. “Please take the message to the masses that we in government will deliver our work.” The promise imbued with deep affection can be embodied vividly in all the photos that show the transformation from shanty towns lined with wooden shelters, to a new city rising from the shabby, and to beautiful life in modern garden-style residential communities within the “15-minute circle of happiness”. The event, which is split into three parts, namely, “Source of the New Development Philosophy”, “Path of Transformation” and “Methods of Governance”, has unveiled enormous changes in shanty towns that used to exist in Cangxia.
