A dynamic promotion for the upcoming 2024 Spring Festival Gala produced by the China Media Group (CMG) was unveiled at the World Economic Forum (WEF)'s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday, showcasing the unique culture and customs around the traditional Chinese festival.
At the Davos Congress Center, the main hub of the 54th WEF, around 1,000 participants, including political figures, officials from the WEF as well as renowned entrepreneurs from various countries gathered for the special event.
The unveiling was part one of the "Dalian Night" event, a traditional event of the WEF Annual Meeting which aims to showcase the host city of the Summer Davos Forum, with food and decorations featuring traditional Chinese cultural elements.
As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, attendees also conveyed their wishes to the Chinese people.
"The Chinese New Year a massive festival. I have spent some time in China, I've visited a couple of times and I really love the region. I was able to visit during Chinese New Year and had an amazing time," said a guest.
"Actually I'm a 'dragon' as well, so this year is my year, and Happy New Year to the Chinese people and to all the dragon people," added another guest.
"I think that China had an amazing night tonight at Davos. It demonstrated the really rich culture that China brings to the world," said a guest.
The CMG's Spring Festival Gala, also known as "Chunwan," has been broadcast live annually since 1983, and has been seen as a major cultural symbol for the traditional Lunar New Year celebrations in China. This year's event will be aired on Feb. 9, on the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Established by the WEF in 2007, the Summer Davos event is held annually in China, alternating between the two port cities of Tianjin and Dalian, with this year's edition set to take place in the latter.
