On July 2, the Report on Chinese Cities’ Global Communications Impact, jointly released by the School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, the China Daily’s International Communication Development Research Center and the China Daily’s New Media Center, was freshly unveiled. Qingdao ranked 11th, and was rated as “a city of opportunities stemming from marine resources” because of its exceptionally distinguished image as a maritime city.
Chinese cities’ global communications impact has been evaluated on all fronts in the report which prioritizes comprehensive exposure overseas, media publicity, discussion among netizens, international reputation and other dimensions. As indicated in the report, on the one hand, the high-quality development of marine economy in Qingdao is ascribed to ocean shipping trade and marine science and technology innovation. On the other hand, Qingdao is hallmarked by its abundant marine tourism resources and marine culture, where maritime sightseeing, recreation experience and other scenarios are well sought-after among netizens.
