Qingdao hosted a total of more than 140 MICE events in the first half of 2023, boasting an area of 1.9 million square meters and attracting the participation of over 50,000 exhibitors and 6 million visitors, and the number and area of the MICE events was close to the levels in the same period of 2019, according to the data from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Qingdao Sub-council.

An average of less than two days saw a MICE event in Qingdao. Will the boom in Qingdao’s MICE economy in the first half of 2023 persist in the second half? As forecasted, a continuous stream of 17 large MICE events will be staged in Qingdao this August, covering a wide range of fields including animation, elderly care service, cosmetology and hairdressing, food ingredients, smart retail, medical care and music. It is estimated that more than 300 MICE events will be held in 2023, with a total of exhibition area of around 4 million square meters, surging from the same period last year.
