As indicated in the newly-released Implementation Opinions on Accelerating High-quality Development of Ice-snow Sports in Qingdao, Qingdao will see relatively sound infrastructures and service systems for ice-snow sports, remarkable headway in ice-snow sports, a surge in the popularity, further enhancement in the competitiveness of ice-snow sports, and a total market size of more than RMB 5 bln in the ice-snow sports industry by 2026.

In years ahead, Qingdao will beef up efforts to popularize ice-snow sports such as snowboarding, curling, figure skating and speed skating as well as similar sports like land curling, land ice hockey and indoor skating, and work hard to integrate the ice-snow sports industry with other sectors including fitness and recreation, contest operation, equipment R&D, culture, tourism, science and technology, and MICE industry. Efforts will be made to encourage snow-ice sports-related companies to join hands to push for innovation of business and service models, and to accelerate the application of new energy-efficient and environment-friendly technologies and products. Furthermore, Qingdao will take solid steps to improve infrastructures and services for ice-snow sports, spread cooperation between government departments and private capital, and encourage and instruct private capital to fund the construction of venues for ice-snow sports.  (Xu Nuo)
