In the three years to come, Qingdao will turbocharge the development of ultra-high-definition video industry in a comprehensive and integrated manner that encompasses “manufacturing, content and application”, build itself into a domestic first-class and globally competitive manufacturing base and demonstration area for application of ultra-high-definition video terminal products. Qingdao sets up the goal that the ultra-high-definition industry size will total more than RMB150bln by 2025.

In regard to the layout of the industry chain, Qingdao will prioritize developing display driver chips, AI chips, power chips and image sensor chips that are geared to 4K/8K, and work on such key technologies as ultra-high-definition imaging, audio algorithms, AI video identification. Regarding supplies of content, content producers are encouraged to prioritize 4K content, give due consideration to 8K content accumulation and make the existing content pivot towards 4K/8K and AR/VR. In terms of applications and popularization, Qingdao will pilot the construction of demonstration communities for 4K applications and continue to improve network infrastructure and service supply on top of deepening applications in industrial domains.  (Sun Xin)
