On July 8, the 2025 China’s national science and technology awards were unveiled. 14 scientific and technological achievements from Qingdao won the award. Among these achievements, Qingdao presided over four of them and participated in the remaining ten.
To score these achievements, Qingdao-based colleges and universities and scientific research institutions have made enormous contributions, and companies such as CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., Qingdao Haier Air Conditioners Co., Ltd. and Qingdao Yibang Biological Engineering Co., Ltd. have performed stunningly. This fully demonstrates Qingdao’s sci-tech innovation sector excels in vitality and comprehensive strength.
Among these achievements, some won the second national prize for technological invention, including the program “Geological Environment In-situ Observation Technology and Equipment for Deep-sea Mineral Resources Exploitation” fulfilled by the team headed by Jia Yonggang at Ocean University of China, the program “Key Technology of Water Controlling and Enhanced Production of Oil in the Heat-resistant and Salt-tolerant Gel Distribution System and Application” fulfilled by the team headed by Dai Caili at China University of Petroleum (East China), and the program “Key Technological System for Cornea Substitutes and Clinical Application” fulfilled by the team headed by Shi Weiyun at the Ophthalmology Research Institute Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University.
It is worth mentioning that among these award-winning programs, Qingdao has presided over or participated in four ocean-related programs. This serves as a testament to Qingdao’s superiority in maritime science and technology. (Geng Tingting)
