People across China are spending their nights out to seek joy and leisure ahead of the traditional Spring Festival, leading to a boost to the nighttime economy.
Sanya City, a tourist hot spot in south China's Hainan Province, is seeing a growing number of tourists. Tourists from all over the country can enjoy the sunny beaches during the day and experience the food and comfort of the island at night.
"I had seafood, barbecue, and some specialties from Hainan such as coconut jelly and fruit. It is indeed very bustling here," said a tourist from northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
In order to handle the upcoming passenger flow peak, the night market runners in Sanya are planning to expand the business area and the number of tables. At present, the number of visitors at many night markets in Sanya have returned to the level before the epidemic.
Apart from the night market and delicious food, people visiting Hainan can also indulge themselves in firework shows and mermaid performances staged at an ocean park in Lingshui Li Autonomous County.
The ocean park holds more than 30,000 various aquatic creatures, and the mermaid performance recently staged at night has attracted many tourists.
"We came here late in the day, so that the kids could enjoy the ocean park, and have a good experience watching the fireworks show," said a tourist.
Liu Xiao'ou, chairman of the ocean park, said as the Spring Festival approaches, the number of visitors has increased by 10 percent each day. In order to seize the opportunity, they have held nine night performances in the past 17 days.
"The weather is comfortable at night, and the price is slightly discounted. Our night show has almost the same number of visitors as the daytime projects. The night is especially suitable for lights, fireworks, drones and the traditional molten iron throwing show. We have prepared colorful night performances for the Spring Festival," said Liu.
The Xi'an Datangsong Everbright City, a scenic area in Taiai City, east China's Shandong Province, has also seen a growing number of visitors ahead of the Spring Festival.
The scenic area provides tourists with colorful projects including night tours, folklore performances, food and interactive activities. Through sound and light technology, it creates an old city that can be seen and smelled, with a lively atmosphere.
