Huidong fisherman's songs usher in a new era!

In ancient times, fishermen were called "Tanka" (Danmin in Chinese). They lived on boats and survived on the sea from generation to generation. Then, their lives were difficult and full of discrimination, but they remained optimistic and strong. They often entertained themselves and expressed their feelings through songs. And over the centuries, the fishermen created a unique type of fisherman's songs with southern coastal cultural characteristics.

In 2008, Huidong fisherman's songs were listed as national-level Intangible Cultural Heritage and were rendered on domestic and international stages.

Today, a new chapter is being written. Huizhou people have inherited and developed this melody from the sea. After innovating and enriching it, they created the musical drama "Fishermen". The drama was staged at the Huizhou Cultural and Art Center on April 4, 2023. This is the first musical drama based on the national-level intangible cultural heritage.

The play boldly explores ethnic expressions, fuses the style and elements of Western musicals, and inherits the ancient art of thousands of years. Thus Huidong fisherman's songs have ushered in a new development period. #artandculture

古时，海上渔民生活艰苦，备受歧视，却依然乐观坚强，在劳动和生活中常以歌自乐，以歌抒怀。历经千年沉浮，渔民中形成了极具南方滨海文化特色的渔歌。2008年，惠东渔歌入选国家级非遗名录，唱到国内外大舞台。

如今，佳话再谱新篇。惠州将这种来自大海、夹杂着清凉海风的曲调歌声，传承发展丰富创新，创作了大型渔歌音乐剧《渔家》。该剧4月4日在惠州文化艺术中心公演，这是全国首部以国家级非遗惠东渔歌为底色的音乐剧。

该剧大胆探索音乐剧的民族表达方式，熔铸西方音乐剧里的风格和元素，传承千年的古老民俗艺术——惠东渔歌迎来一个新的发展期！
